Stunt Lab: EXTENDED!
Posted on Mar 08, 2012

Mark Hayward (cool yo-yo guy) and Jonathan Burns (goofy contortionist) have been flaunting their useless skills for years, and are at the top of the circus/variety arts field, but now they have decided to get seriously scientific about their latest undertaking; breaking a Guinness World Record. Using everyday objects, their quick wit, and years of training, this duo creates unique and unusual tricks and stunts that are sure to please thrill seekers of all ages.

Join this unlikely pair in their laboratory as they prepare themselves mentally and physically to be the best at useless skills no one else would or should attempt in pursuit of "The Greatest Stunt of All Time."

A world record will be broken at every show... We hope.

Directed by Viveca Gardiner.

Who

Mark Hayward (juggler, yo-yoer, cool guy) has been a variety arts performer since 1990. He is a world yo-yo champion, a member of a world-champion juggling team, and a spintop champion. His mom is proud. Mark has traveled the world with a yo-yo on his finger (well, mostly in his pocket), and has made appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, America's Got Talent, and the NBC Nightly News (without committing a crime). Someday Mark hopes to perform for both the President and the Queen. Not being a convicted criminal should help with that. markhayward.net

Jonathan Burns (flexible, curious, and goofy) always thought he was "special." He was the kind of kid who would put his leg over his head at the family reunion or perform musical armpit farts to impress the girls. In 2004, contorting his body and impressing people with his unusual talents became his full-time job. Since then he has performed at over 200 colleges & universities and at festivals across the US, Canada, China, & New Zealand. He was recently featured on The Jay Leno Show. When he's not performing he can usually be found in an airport terminal or spending time with his lovely wife (I guess the armpit farts worked!). flexiblecomedy.com

Viveca Gardiner (director) is president of Playful Productions, which produces variety arts and circus shows and provides performers and instructors for special events, corporate training, and education programs. She has performed as a juggler, ringmistress, aerialist, clown, stilt walker, and trick skater and worked behind the scenes in many technical and managerial capacities. She has taught circus skills to hundreds of people. She was a director at the Big Apple Circus and now co-produces CircusNYC and JuggleNYC and directs Bindlestiff Family Cirkus’s youth programs. Directing youth circus performers for eight years has given her the perfect training to attempt to take on Mark and Jonathan.
